After not a great deal of success Director Martin Scorsese was advised to make a film with a theme closer to home (grew up in NY) which he wanted to make - New York crime film. Classic New York characters - (Johny boy acted by a young Robert DeNiro). Classic Movie soundtrack! Innovative Documentry style with both gritty and funny scenes!
